🎛️ Built-in Audio Effects and DSP Processors
Omni DAW comes with a suite of 16 built-in DSP processors designed for sound shaping, correction, compression, spatialization, and creative audio processing. Effects are connected in an Insert Chain on each track, the Master bus, and each Return bus — every one of them has this chain by default, so it doesn't need to be "added" separately. In addition to native effects, external VST3, CLAP, LV2, and (legacy) VST2 plugins can be loaded into the same chain, as well as custom effects written in OmniScript (.omfx, @mode: audio — see /docs/omniscript).
1. EQ (Parametric Equalizer)
An 8-band equalizer with a real-time Spectrum Analyzer. Each band has a filter type selection: Peak, Low Shelf, High Shelf, Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass, Notch (7 types).
2. Filter (Multi-model Character Filter)
A filter with 6 operating modes (Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass, Notch, All-Pass, Peak) offering a choice of 11 filter character models (including Clean, Ladder, Diode, Moog Ladder, Korg35, OB-Xd, Comb, Vintage Ladder, and warped cutoff/resonance variants), 7 saturation curve types, and up to 4× oversampling.
3. Compressor (Dynamics Compressor)
A peak and RMS compressor with an adjustable knee (Soft/Hard Knee), attack and release times, auto-makeup gain, stereo-link, and external sidechain keying support.
4. Gate (Noise Gate)
A noise gate with an adjustable trigger threshold (Threshold) and Hold time.
5. Delay (Stereo Delay)
A delay effect with 4 operating modes: Standard (single time + optional ping-pong), BBD Analog (analog BBD line character), Multi-Tap, and LCR (independent times for left, right, and center channels). It features a low-pass filter in the feedback loop.
6. Reverb (Algorithmic Reverb)
An algorithmic space generator (FDN network). Room Size scales the actual geometry (delay lines and early reflections), while Decay sets the RT60 independently, so a small room can ring long and a hall can be short. Damping controls the HF absorption, Pre-Delay the gap before the tail, Mod Depth / Mod Rate the tap modulation that keeps the tail from sounding metallic, and Width / Mix the output. Freeze holds the tail indefinitely. The effect panel includes an Algorithmic / Convolution switch, which replaces the engine with the Convolution Reverb (see below).
7. Convolution Reverb
A reverb based on impulse response files (IR, up to approx. 8 seconds at 48 kHz), processed using partitioned FFT convolution. It allows for replicating the acoustics of real rooms — accessible from the Reverb effect panel.
8. Chorus (Ensemble Chorus)
A multi-voice stereo ensemble chorus: each channel sums up to 4 independently modulated delay taps (Voices), loudness-normalized so more voices add richness rather than just volume. Spread sets the stereo LFO phase offset (fully automatable), and LFO Shape switches the modulation between Sine, Triangle, and a smooth Random wander. An optional Damping filter warms the feedback loop (BBD-style HF rolloff) and a Low Cut filter tightens the wet signal's low end — both off by default. Controls: Rate, Depth, Mix, Feedback, Voices, Spread, LFO Shape, Damping, Low Cut.
9. Phaser (Multi-stage Phaser)
A phaser based on an all-pass filter chain (2–12 stages), with Depth, Feedback, and Mix controls.
10. Saturator (Harmonic Saturation)
A non-linear saturation processor that adds harmonics and "warmth" to the signal.
11. Multiband Dynamics (Multiband Compressor)
A 3-band compressor with frequency splitting via 4th-order Linkwitz-Riley filters (24 dB/oct) for precise dynamics control across the low, mid, and high bands.
12. Modal Resonator (Resonator Bank)
A resonator bank in the style of Mutable Instruments Rings, offering 6 resonance models (Modal, Sympathetic, Inharmonic, FM Voice, Quantized, Reverb String) driving a bank of up to 24 band-pass filters — turning a percussive signal into a ringing harmonic tone.
13. Granular Clouds (Textural Granulator)
A creative granular processor that breaks the input signal into microscopic audio grains, allowing for the creation of evolving ambient structures and time loops.
14. Transient Shaper
Independent control over the initial attack (Attack) and tail (Sustain) to harden or soften percussion hits.
15. Limiter (Brickwall Limiter)
A peak limiter protecting the mixer from digital clipping — typically used on the Master bus.
16. Sequenced FX
An Effectrix-style effect: a grid of rows where each row is a sub-effect (built-in or MIDI FX) with its own on/off pattern synced to the song position (beat position), featuring 64-sample crossfading at step boundaries and the ability to override parameters per step.
